Members Meeting March 21, 2023

Please plan to attend the fifth meeting of 2022-2023 at the First Parish Church Chapel Hall, Tuesday, March 21. It will officially be Spring on the calendar at least. Do not arrive before 11:45 AM. Parking is at a premium, so you are urged to carpool. Another option is to call the Council on Aging (COA), 978-526-7500 to determine if the van is available.

Please read the following important request, reminders, notices before next week’s meeting.

1). Club member, Jean Spencer has done some work with Girls Inc of Lynn. Jean would like to take donated menstrual hygiene products to Girls Inc because the need is great among low-income, disadvantaged young women.  The Board approved Jean’s request and recommended that we donate feminine hygiene products to Girls Inc. Please bring to the March meeting products such as a box of panty liners, tampons, cleansing wipes, whatever you would like to donate. Jean will be taking our donations and dropping them off in Lynn. Thank you.

2). A reminder that you can nominate at any time during the Club year any member to be considered as an Honorary Member. Submit a letter to the Board with the nominee’s name and reasons for the nomination. The Board considers the nomination(s) and the Honorary Member is announced at the Annual Meeting in May.

3). Our April Shower of Prizes fundraiser is underway. If you need more calendars, please call Eileen Morsett at 978-704-9498 or email eileenmor2@gmail.com. Volunteers are also needed to sell calendars in front of the Post Office for a couple of hours on two Saturdays, March 18 and April 1. Please let Eileen, Valerie McAskill or Joanne Donnelly know if you can volunteer. Thank you.

4). Our Annual Meeting and Luncheon is held in May. It is at this meeting that next year’s Committee assignments are determined. Please consider signing up for one or more Committees. The Committees’ descriptions are on the Club website– https://manchesterwomansclub.home.blog/committees/. The Committee’s name links you to more information.

I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday. Stay well.

Sincerely,
Charlotte Minasian
President, 2022-2023

Fundraisers, Scholarships

We have two fundraisers this year, proceeds of which go toward the operation of the Club. You will be receiving 3 April Shower of Prizes calendars in the mail for you to purchase and/or to sell. There are great prizes each day of the month. If you need more calendars, print one or contact Eileen Morsett at 978-704-9498.

Our other fundraiser is the Manchester Woman’s Club cookbook. There are still a few cookbooks left. If you need another copy, contact Holly Gavin at 978-210-9857. And come to the Manchester Public Library on Saturday, May 13 where the Club’s cookbook will be the featured cookbook for the Library’s monthly throwdown. Better yet, register at the Library to make one of the recipes and bring it on the day. You may be the one to take home the prize!

Special Gifts will be finishing its work soon and making a determination about the scholarship amount we will be awarding this year to two MERHS seniors. If you have not yet had a chance to donate to the Scholarship Fund, please make a donation in any amount made payable to the Manchester Woman’s Club and send it to Joan Kelley, 18 Raymond Street, Manchester 01944. Thank you.
