At the Manchester Woman’s Club Annual Meeting May 16, 2023 at the Essex County Club, Martha Elder and Shirley Preston were named the Club’s Honorary Members for 2023. Both Martha and Shirley were nominated by fellow Club members. Qualities considered for Honorary Membership are dedication, creativity, leadership, works well with others, enthusiasm, and generosity of spirit.

Martha Elder

Martha has served the Club for many years on every Committee – Friendship Tree Program, Fall Trip, Ways & Means, Community Service, Flowers and Goodwill, Hospitality, and Hostess numerous times. For the past seven years, she has ably guided the Program Committee.

Her enthusiasm is infectious. She is first to raise her hand to help and is one of the most hardworking members. Thank you, Martha for your dedication and inspiration.

Shirley Preston

As a long-time member, Shirley has displayed her dedication to the Club by serving on the Nominating, Ways & Means, Program, the Annual Luncheon & Meeting Committees and many more.

She has been a leader, serving in the role of President from 1996-1998 and again from 2011 to 2013.

Her creativity has favored us with beautiful centerpieces at many of our meetings and her flair for style is evident.

Shirley encompasses the spirit of the Manchester Woman’s Club. Thank you Shirley for all you do for the Manchester Woman’s Club.
